September is a month of new starts for many, especially those returning to school. What could be better than kicking things off with new books? At the beginning of the month, Kaitlin and I launched a collection featuring recent award-winning children's books. These awards that we focused on recognize excellence in writing and illustration, as well as elevating diverse stories. They cover a selection of fiction and nonfiction with topics ranging from serious to super silly - a perfect balance for young readers. We hope that exposing the Teachers College community to these texts gives access to a broad span of new and exciting classroom materials. Whether browsing for lesson plans or just for fun, we're sure that there's something here for everyone!
These featured books are moving back to their regular shelves as we make way for October's staff picks. Keep an eye out for what Services Associate Jasmine has coming to the second floor reading room!
Books displayed in the Award Winners collection are geared towards elementary readers, but we have award winners for middle grade and young adult readers too.
